Kirkjufellfoss is one of the most photographed waterfalls in Iceland, probably mostly due to the mountain in the background, Mt. Kirkjufell. This image shows the lower falls a little before sunset, though I do have a wider image from another evening that better shows the entirety of the scene.ÊBack in the 13th-18th century or thereabouts, Danish sailors used to frequent this area and took to calling the mountain 'Sugar Top' and while it thankfully didn't stick, I thought the name was fitting for this particular image.
