About Lyle

The most incredible moments in Lyle's life have revolved around the beauty of and a connection to this amazing world we live in and the wildlife we share it with. He finds joy in taking these beautiful moments and distilling them down into simple, compelling images.

Prior to moving to Maui in 2013 to focus on his photography full time, Lyle excelled as a District Sales Manager in the wireless industry, managing upwards of 20 stores across four states and was consistently ranked #1 in the company. Leading up to Hawaii, he lived in California (twice), Washington (twice), Utah, and Oregon. Hawaii is where he belongs.

In 2019, Lyle signed the lease on a rundown retail space in Paia and over the course of two months transformed it into the sparkling Pueo Gallery, where he featured his own work along with his beautiful and talented wife Rebecca's art and a dozen other artists. It was a bumpy ride, with Covid happening nine months after opening and then the Lahaina fire in 2023. After a little over five fulfilling but very challenging years, Pueo Gallery closed in May of 2024.

Lyle now focuses on online art sales and leading small group photography tours, with landscape and wildlife workshops around the world. Most notably, Lyle takes groups to swim with and photograph the Humpback Whales in Tonga. With an emphasis on providing life changing wildlife encounters, he focuses on teaching photography and post processing in equal measure to responsible stewardship of our oceans, respectful wildlife interactions and conservation. Capturing unique, impactful images does not have to be (and absolutely should not be) done at the expense of the wildlife or our oceans.
