Pe'ahi has many personalities. Early in the morning just as the sun begins to climb over Haleakala she is soft pastels, serene and peaceful. The brave riders and all the mayhem that descend upon this place with them have not yet arrived. No skis buzzing around, no other boats, no helicopters or drones racing overhead. No noise beyond the booming waves and our own quiet gasps. It's perfect.
