The Story

We were gifted a few wonderful swims with this pair of whales. Here, you see a female whale in front with her doting suitor just beyond. Wherever she went, he followed. She would hang vertically just below the surface with us while he circled her. In the distance, I could just make out the faint flashes of white from other males in the area before he would swim away, indignantly blowing bubbles...but he always came right back. At one point, as he was drifting back toward her head first in slow motion, she reached out her pec fin and gave him a little boop right on the nose. Such amazing animals!
