Swimming with whales is always a roll of the dice. Sometimes they are disinterested, or ambivalent, but sometimes...sometimes they take an active interest in you. Suddenly they are deeply curious, watching you, wondering. They can be ceaselessly playful, mischievous and teasing. This particular whale is featured here a few times and the 30 minutes of swimming we were gifted in 2025 will go down as a highlight of my entire life. The images I share with everyone and the memories I keep for myself fill me with gratitude. They humble me. They haunt me. I am forever grateful for these moments with this whale. We were let in. We were accepted. There's nothing else like it.
